Commission on Accreditation

The CASWE-ACFTS Commission on Accreditation reviews all accredited schools of social work every 7 years, using the Manual of Accreditation. The policies, standards and procedures of Canadian social work education is revised through consultation with CASWE members and approved at the Annual General Assembly.

The Commission on Accreditation, a semi-autonomous body within the Canadian Association for Social Work Education, is composed of a maximum of 15 voluntary members appointed to a three year mandate by the Board of Directors of the Association.  Members of the Commission on Accreditation are primarily social work educators but may include other individuals who, by reason of their interests and experience, can assist in promoting and maintaining the quality of education within the profession of social work.  The Commission on Accreditation is responsible for accrediting undergraduate (BSW) and graduate (MSW) education programmes based on standards and educational policies approved by the General Assembly of the Association.  The processes for assessing and reviewing programmes are outlined in the Procedures for Accreditation.
