Committees & Caucuses
 
There are currently three types of volunteer groups within the CASWE-ACFTS  

1.       COMMITTEES which are  defined by the CASWE Constitution.

2.       CAUCUSES which are the grass roots groups engaged in advocacy, both within and outside the Association, and on behalf of specific interests

3.       NETWORKS which are affiliated with social work education, but not necessarily to the promotion of the CASWE-ACFTS

These groups are organized to operationalize the CASWE-ACFTS Mission Statement through the professional and scientific functions and activities of the Association.  


Functions and ActivitiesIn pursuing the purposes of the Mission Statement, CASWE shall undertake:

Educational Policies: Formulation and recommendation of educational policies.

Accreditation: The accreditation of professional social work educational programmes according to established standards and procedures.

Research: The promotion, coordination, planning and undertaking of research on selected issues related to social work education.

Publication: The publication of a scholarly periodical journal, a newsletter, and other appropriate dissemination of information and new knowledge.

Forums for discussion and debate: The conduct of General Assemblies and other appropriate forums for the presentation of information and new knowledge and for discussion and debate.

Social Policies: The presentation and promotion of positions relating to the objectives and standards of social work education to the objectives, programmes and policies of both public and private bodies.

Consultation and Collaboration: Consultation and collaboration with faculties and schools, teaching staff, students, universities and other national and international organizations.

International Linkage: CASWE is an association member of the International and the North American/Caribbean Associations of Schools of Social Work and through these, participates in the advancement of social work education in developing and developed countries.

Information: The collecting of information and responding to requests from a variety of sources on the nature and organization, individual members of social work education in Canada
